Think I have a new "fastest car ever been in"

Featured Replies

As much as you'd expect me to say the opposite, the new Turbo S is a better car.

The GT-R was made to take out the 911 Turbo, in it's last generation.

The new 911 is better.

At a recent event 911 Turbo S were doing consistant 3.0 second launches time after time after time.

The GT-Rs were struggling to match them and hit Nissan claimed time.

They are also lighter.

GT-R is still significantly cheaper though, which is a factor in chosing what you like.

The only way anyone could "much prefer" a GT-R over a new 911 Turbo S is if they are a GT-R fan.  Like me. :D

I'd feel funny having any 911 on the drive.  A Nissan I feel I can get away with.

Technically, the new 911 Turbo S has moved the game on and Nissan won't have an answer until the R36.

Yeah. He said it didnt feel as quick as the GTR, even though it its proven to be, isnt it. Was much better and smoother in town, but preferred the GTR, as you say, mainly the price.

£70k for a new gtr isnt it? And 160k for the porker?

I dont know too much about tuning gtr's, but a stage 4 should be much quicker than the Porsche shouldnt it? That wouldnt cost too much compared?

Like i say, im really not that clued up compared to the likes of yourself. Im excited to go in this 750hp (is that what a stage 4 is?) gtr next year though. Should be an eye opener, even more so tan the standard MY12 hes got at the moment. That should test his driving talant eh!

Any pics of the R32?

Imagine a fairly normal looking greyish R32 mk4, just with big wheels and massive brakes.  Nothing really to say what it is until you hear and see it running. :D

Fastest car I can remember ever  going in was a AC Cobra, don't think we were going that fast, but as a convertible it felt quick, I think I was about 8 at the time, has stuck with me ever since

Fastest car I have ever driven was a 650bhp track-prep'd Lamborghini Murcielago. Felt pretty brutal but the flappy paddle box was woeful. The DSG on our Fabia is better lol!

Fastest vehicle I have been a passenger in is my brothers Vauxhall Vivaro van. He's such a crazy driver I doubt much could stay with him in the bends! :-)

Been in a few quick ones (mainly at the ring, Corvette, Carrera GT etc) however the most memorable over here was a Renault 5 Turbo with a heavily modified VAG engine in it.  Only car I have ever been in that I tightened the harness straps because I thought I was going to die.

Few Pics it was an amazing car

Fastest I have been is driving a Gallardo on a track. Fastest on the road is a mates catetham r500 super light and that was before it was run in.

The fastest car I've ever driven was a track-modded R33 Gts25t. I couldn't drive it very hard, though, because the seat was fixed and the owner is more than a foot taller than me.

The machine that felt the fastest was a friend's race-prepped Arctic Cat snowmobile. The first time I launched it I nearly fell off the back. I couldn't let off the throttle because I was afraid my hand would slip off.

I went out in a supposed 300bhp mk1 Focus RS last night. It sounded nice but I was dissappointed. After that I won't be in a hurry to chop my Fabia in!

My mate is going twin turbo on his 350z in the next few weeks. Looking at 550bhp or there abouts. Im looking forward to a passenger ride

I just remembered that I've also had the opportunity to punt a BMW M Roadster (Z3 with M3 mechanicals), which was entertaining

Watched a woman get a Hayabusa up to nearly 270mph on a two mile airstrip

on the motorbike show the other day.

Veyron beater. The end.

Meanwhile someone in Sweden is doing 220mph wheelies.

And if you got into the pants of that women, youd realise shes got the biggest balls, ever.

Sweaty balls too I'd wager ;-)

Once had the privilege of a hurl in a Group 4  Escort RS1800.  Not this car but same machine.

Got a link to the PH page about that? I know someone with a 5 in their garage getting turned into a track car right now. This might possibly be his dream car in the flesh.

Sadly it is not available anymore.

The article in question is about 25mins into the recording.

Looking forward to watching this on a big screen once I get home.

I thought that too when I was taken for a spin in a Mk1 RS with the same sort of power.

Quick, sounded great, but I was expecting more...... I think the way the power is delivered made it feel quicker than it was.

Not going to challenge the fastest stuff in this thread, but a truly lovely car.

My mates Jaguar XKR which I believe is a nip over 500bhp, gorgeous machine and his was incredibly specced out too coming from being a Director at Jaguars company car.  Lots of black with red highlights.

Cars are just too slow now. Ever since I rode in the back of this:

and some photographer snapped us as we shot past at 500mph!!

I knew a bloke who had a 2l Fabia, he would have take you all like a king!
