Think I have a new "fastest car ever been in"

Featured Replies

Wow

I had a passenger ride in a VXR8 yesterday, with 500bhp...That was unbelievably quick!!....well almost as quick as the Lambo Spyder

Outdone again. :D

Always loved the R32 but 700bhp in a family hatch!!!

Yes, pretty nuts.  Engine has been breathed on enough in itself and then a whopping GT35 turbo stuck on it :D

Cammed to hell.  The car felt like it was going to stall for first 60 seconds of running :D

On my defence it was an in an unmodded road car on stock tyres that had only done 1,400 miles.

Turn the Yeti up a bit ;)

I would imagine spending a nice 5 figure sum on the GTR would get you up to the 750 to 800 mark?  I dread to think what has been ploughed into that R32.

I've never even been a passenger in a car faster than my mate's MX5 :(

Most powerful land based vehicle(as opposed to planes etc) ive been in had 560bhp but it was a Scania V8

The time you get in something totally bonkers, it will scare the hell out of you.  I can't say Richard's GTR scared me even slightly.  Having a TypeR spin in front of us wasn't particularly pleasant :D but this R32 was simply bonkers.  The sort of gains in speed into 3 figures I could only imagine ti be able to do with me behind the wheel.

£14k gives you 750bhp.

Big car though.

That doesn't sound too bad to be honest considering getting a R32 engine up to that and the ancillaries to cope with that kind of power would be way more than that IMO

Yes, starting with a 3.8 v6 twin turbo, twin intercooler has it's advantages.

I drove Luca Badoer's old F1 car a couple of years ago.

Only 600bhp, but at a mere 600kg it had serious power to weight ratio.

My memory of the drive was just trying to keep my brain updating the scenery that was flying by :)

I'm still pestering my boss to give me a spin in his AMG SLS

Been in my cousins 911 Turbo, felt the blood leaving my head when he mashed the loud pedal!

Fastest thing I've been on a was a shot of someone's CBR600RR

Car wise I think it was still probably an Audi Quattro in about 1982 when I was 4 or 5.

Octy VRS was probably the fastest thing I've driven myself although the 330d I test drove was more powerful.

I like to think the gsxr 600 I owned was pretty quick but I think it just felt fast! Surely it was quick but nothing mind warping. You just felt the speed a lot more due to being open and not wrapped up in a cage!

Have a go on a GSXR1000

Oh, and make sure you hold on tight...

Mates sellin his 2012 R35 for winter.

Plans to get a stage 4 one next summer. Because hes got the bug for more and more speed!

Hes been in one before on a track and said it made him feel a little ill under acceleration. So he wants one now lol.

He test drove a 911 turbo s (560hp i think he said) but much prefered the GTR

Sorry Toxic, iv no idea how your quote ended up there! Deleted now! :).

Back of a ZZR1200 was the fastest, on the ground, experience of my life. Although as Danham said, 150mph feels a lot faster on a bike than it does in a nice cosy car, same as a 100mph feels faster down a single track road than on the motorway.

Faster car I have ever been in was probably a lotus Elise that a friend had done a lot of playing with, stunning how well it gripped the road at what seemed to be ridiculous speeds.

Power to weight ratios are the key!

Devonutopia, Not sure if you've seen the video on YouTube of that bloke on the autobahn in a z4, who pulls alongside an old r32, the golf just leaves the BMW standing, the bloke then mentions how his golf is running 550bhp and is twin turbo'd. Sweet. I bet 700 horses was pretty wild.

Fastest car I've been a passenger in would be an C63 AMG Black driven by a racing driver. Fastest car I've driven is a McLaren MP4-12c. And fastest thing I've been on is a race tuned Zx10 C1, that thing was insane.

Any pics of the R32?

As much as you'd expect me to say the opposite, the new Turbo S is a better car.

The GT-R was made to take out the 911 Turbo, in it's last generation.

The new 911 is better.

At a recent event 911 Turbo S were doing consistant 3.0 second launches time after time after time.

The GT-Rs were struggling to match them and hit Nissan claimed time.

They are also lighter.

GT-R is still significantly cheaper though, which is a factor in chosing what you like.

The only way anyone could "much prefer" a GT-R over a new 911 Turbo S is if they are a GT-R fan.  Like me. :D

I'd feel funny having any 911 on the drive.  A Nissan I feel I can get away with.

Technically, the new 911 Turbo S has moved the game on and Nissan won't have an answer until the R36.
