fabia vrs clutch pedal very heavy

Featured Replies

I have owned the fabia vrs  for nearly 3 years now and since I have owned it the pedal has always been heavy the guy that owned said that it might be a more heavy duty clutch but did not believe that but the thing is its killing my leg,but barring a wee bit of noise from the clutch it changes gear no problem not deteriorated a bit since I bought it,a year ago I took it too my garage lad and he said it looks like the thrust bearing could be the problem just to change because its a heavy pedal is it worth it

Is the clutch noisy when you put pressure on the pedal? I've never personally known a bad thrust bearing that wasn't a bit noisy.

As to the heavy duty clutch, I actually do at least part believe that one, because it's common to remap this engine and custom maps can see you with about 220bhp and 300lbft torque which is lots for the standard clutch to handle.

Theres  just a bit of noise without the clutch being pressed in but when you press the pedal any noise disappears but it has been remapped to 175bhp when I got it

Sounds like a smf to me with the chatter?

Might be a heavy duty clutch. Cant see how it would be heavy enough to hurt your leg unless your just having a laugh?

Agreed; that sounds like a SMF with a heavy duty paddle clutch. In that case it could be a bit heavier than standard too, and if you spend most of your time in stop-start traffic they can get to be a pain in the left leg.

Yeah I do spend a good bit of time at lights so the left leg and back is getting a good work out,my sisters just had a solid flywheel on her Octavia 1.9tdi and the pedal is as light as a feather.

Is the bite on the clutch progressive or on/off?

Definitely sounds like a performance clutch has been fitted, which are normally heavier with the pedal.
