Ok, for my next trick......my turn to look at Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So, having got an RNS510 (a 1T0 035 680 P) to replace my RNS315 (which is now in my dad's Octavia), I've done the firmware and the boot logo thing, got MaxiDot and MFSW running happily, I've started to miss the Bluetooth. So what do I need to do/have/tell to have BT back in the car.

Calls are obviously an essential, although more the ability to receive than make. Any calls would be from a favourites list, everyone else can wait until I've stopped.

Streaming music - meh. Have got Radio, HDD,SD,CD and CD Changer, nothing is on the phone that isn't elsewhere.

Portable hotspot - kinda meh again really, although might be useful to keep people quiet who have lesser phones than the mighty Samsung Note 3 (Cyanogenmod'd)

Thanks guys :)

Do you have the polar FIS yet Alex? If you do it gives you more options re BT and maxidot.

No, not gone down that one yet. What extra would it do for the Bluetooth stuff?

Well it would allow you to fit a premium unit as it would communicate with the maxidot. These do it all and can be had quite cheaply these days. Without it in a pre FL you are limited to older RSap only units (which would work with your Samsung phone but not many others) or newer HFP units that work with all phones but which wouldn't show in maxidot. These are paired from the phone end. Note the rSap only route is the cheapest as older modules can be had for under £20 on eBay. I sold mine for £22 over a year ago.

There is one unit that works in pre fl maxidot with all phones but it is the older and more expensive metal boxed unit (1z0 035 729b ). It doesn't do streaming but you are not bothered about that so may be a goer if they have come down in price since I last looked.
