Oil usage (sorry) .. just VRS?

Featured Replies

I have been skimming threads on here about high oil usage.. is this just a problem with petrol engines and/or just the Fabia VRS?

I've just been looking at a Fabia 1.6tdi CR 90 SE diesel estate.  2010 model, but effectively only used for three years and done 37,000 miles.  I noted in the service record that between services done by Skoda (roughly every 10,000) the previous owner had had oil and filter changes done (by a different garage).. so oil had been replaced every 3-5,000 miles.  I was assuming that this was just a very cautious (or diligent) owner. But having read about issues of high oil usage in other Skodas, I'm just wondering if there might be a different conclusion to be reached.

Can someone enlighten me.

As far as I'm aware it's just on the fabia vrs 1.4 tsi.

Yup, only aware of TSI engines being affected. Obviously any car I suppose could be prone to oil use, but imagine quite slim chance with this one. Sounds like the previous owner looked after it well. Hardly any miles. Bonus.

Don't worry it is mainly just the 1.4TSI engine that has to carry a spare oil drum in the boot ;)
