Courtesy cars

Featured Replies

Last time I had my car in for a service I got a free (but acknowledging that this has to be paid for somewhere) courtesy car to keep me mobile for the day. I got me around and I was grateful for this service

Years ago I worked  in a  Citroen dealer who gave out courtesy cars on size basis if the customer had a AX, saxo  ZX or Xantia they got a saxo ... Xantia XM or Synergie owners got a ZX or ZX estate

That seems fair enough. Put the customer in a similar size or class of car to the one they bought.

Years ago, I bought an Orion and while it was in having a leaky boot sorted a few weeks later, I was given a Cortina as a courtesy car. All was going well until I had to brake a bit sharpish. The rear wheels locked up and sent me sideways across the road!  :peek:

When my octavia went in for a ongoing warranty repair the first time i had a Roomster diesel, then a Seat ibiza estate & finally a Petrol Yeti, all were less than a month old & apart from the roomster which was just horrible to drive(1.4tdi). i was quite happy with them,i was quite happy to drive anything to be honest as it was free(apart from a bit of fuel).

My fabia has gone into dm Keith and they gave me a citi go,it's not a bad little car tbh until you come to a slight incline then it becomes hard work lol

When my mk1 fabia vrs was in for repair last year after an accident i was given a 1.2 litre vauxhall corsa. It was brand new aswell only 12 miles on clock but thats as good as it got. Its an extremely under powered car, 0-60 if the road was long enough, 70 if you prayed hard enough.

Now some of you might think its not all about power but at the time i was commuting a total of 56 miles a day all motorway, that courtesy car cost me 3 times more in fuel a week than the fabia. To top off the bad timing I had a holiday booked in whitby that my car should have been finished for, but nope had to use the corsa and for anybody who has been to whitby will know there are alot of steep hills, it is the first car i have driven that i had to be in 2nd gear to get up a hill.

My mums got one if those except with the Easytronic gearbox which makes if even slower! It truly is a terrible car

I have had a variety of courtesy Cars, dependant on garage.

I have had a Roomster Scout (which was nice) but a bit of a step down from a Octavia VRS

a 1998 Focus TDCI diesel thing, absolute tank but very very different to the ST

and most recently a 2013 fabia poverty spec, nice little engine actually.

My last one from a Skoda dealers was documented on here. Red Roomster 7 years old 1.4 petrol, multi warning lights on, 2 wheel trims missing, electric windows didnt work, remote locking didn't work, had fuel light on, was saying 27K overdue service (it's a main dealers ffs how hard is it to service their own car and reset light). Then to illustrate how much of a piece of crap it was, I found 17 different inspection sheets from customers using it as a courtesy car with their full name and address inc their own cars details inc reg dating back a couple of years randomly throughout car............. Then failed to fix my car under warranty giving it back still doing the same and wanted another 2 or 3 weeks to get it in again to then let one of their mechanics use it to commute to and from work in to see if he could replicate the fault........ Car was sold within 2 days after that. Skoda can suck my plumbs after that.

and the 2 Fabia's with mega mega illegal tyres they tried to give me in the past and told me "don't worry you will only have it for a couple of days" when I pointed it out.......
