For those Fabia vRS owners with filthy seats...

Featured Replies

... Took my Mum to B&Q today to get some DIY bits and bobs...

While I was there, I stumbled across thier vaccum cleaner section and checked to see how much a Vax wet vac was...

Looks like a top find mate!

My seats are starting to look a little grubby, not sure how much difference the Diamondbrite is making tbh...

This is a definite future purchase!!!

Hopefully I can tie in removing the seats with adding Noisekiller kit and laying all the cable runs for the ICE too

Scotch Gard it now

How long does it need to dry, roughly? Main reason I'm wondering is because we have heated seats in ours and I kinda want to avoid shorting that :)

Good find

Sounds good. My seats are a mess. But

eBay has them for

ebay link????

Ebay link:

www.ebay.co.uk - Just put VAX SPOT in search. Tempted by the first featured item, but not sure what "graded item" means?

Graded usually means Refurbished Returned stock, sold AS NEW with warranty

I don't like the sound of that too much, even if its quite cheap. Maybe I'm being pessimistic? Can't moan at 99.9% feedback though.

My seats are definitely in need of a full clean. Oil has got on the passenger one.

If the pros are charging 25 -65 quid, How much do you charge? & Do you make house calls ?

Whatever he charges plus a techie consultancy fee telling him how to remove the seats ;)

A nice find indeed, may well invest. And is there a how-to on how to get the seats out? :D

I think its as simple as removing 4x M12 Spline type things... And IIRC you are supposed to change the "one use only" bolts...

I think I'm gonna let my seats get filthy so I can jutify a leather re-trim! ;)

M10 splines iirc Tom :)

Ok Boss.

I'll go stand in the corner :o

OK, first off, I am absolutely shattered!!!

Second, My interior now looks pretty much new!!

I used the VAX thingy with VAX AAA Original fluid, and for the plastics I used Quantum Interior Plastics Cleaner (from a VW Dealer).

I also used my trusty little Dyson to vac it all out while the seats were out.

I have also washed and dried the car tonight, in addition to fitting some red led's to my "dome light" in a W8 fashion and wiring them to the dimmer switch.

Today, has been a busy day!

Everything has gone great except that I have scratched the tint on my drivers door :( Not too badly, but I'll know it's there :(

If it's nice tomorrow, I think I'll take some photos!!!

Being on holiday rocks! :)

Sounds cool Josh... When can you do mine?

And whens the "how to" for the LED's?

Thought about using the W12 light and spraying it BLACK. Might have looked pants though... :thumbdwn:

The thing with the W8 lights is that there are cool logos on the buttons that light up red, and I can imagine it being a total biiiiaatch to get these to still illuminate after painting it all black.

I'll take a photo or two of it tomorrow...

Basically, you drill 2 holes in the frosted plastic on the interior light (towards the front)... Stick 2 black 3mm LED holders into these holes... Stick 2 3mm red 12v LED's in the holders... Wire both positives together and both negatives together to give 1 pos and 1 neg wire (heatshrink all round it)... Cut a notch out of the plastic on the front of the light, so you can get the cables out of the light unit... Run the negative to the negative copper power bar by the plug socket on the light unit... Run the positive down the A pillar on the drivers side and attach it to the grey/blue-stripe wire coming off the dimmer switch by the main light switch on your dash... Make sure everything is insulated and you've got all the connections right! BOSH! When you turn your exterior lights on, you'll get 2 funky "W8-esque" red LED's shining down onto your gearknob (and onto your watch at night... it's very cool... Trust me!). I'm not sure whether the heatshrink might catch fire if you leave the interior light on for hours (not sure how hot it gets?) so don't come running to me if your car burns down.

I had the proper W8 light in my Polo GTi, which required cutting the roof lining to accept it!!! The red illumination kicks ***!

Sounds very nice Josh - will look forward to pics. Not sure if I'd manage all the electrical tinkering though :o That would end up looking like my Dad's 5-Series then, BMW have been using the 'little red lights shining down at night' technique for some time now and it rocks :)
