HELP!

Featured Replies

had my fabia vrs at rs tuning for a boost leak test come back all clear but my car still sound very hisy and doing very poor m.p.g car as just had a full service so not the filters blocked

Usual suspects are MAF, EGR, MAP, and in my case pretty sure VAC block is to blame. Get it on VAG com first otherwise you'll be shelling out blindly (like I did!)

i have removed the egr but was still same

Might also be worth checking your intercooler and the pipe/connectors there.

wont that have shown on the smoke test?

I'm not sure in all honesty, never had a smoke test.

This was removed after 90k and I suffered with poor fuel economy. Can't tell you if it made a difference as I changed a lot more, so no fair comparison could be made. Only mention it as it couldn't have been helping it IMHO, although I am no engineer :P

i have been told a poor map or a blocked/****ed cat but its very hisy so its doing my head in

How long have you had your map?! If it's a recent change, have you allowed for the heavier foot than normal whilst you enjoy the new power?!? :D

I ant had a map done on it but I dunno if any of the previous owner did

Ah my mistake, took your "bad map" as a remapped car :p

  • Author

Ye I did mean that mate I was told that maybe one of the old owners got it remapped by one of the guys that comes out with a laptop to do it

OK, what sort of journeys and what sort of MPG. Anything around or over 45MPG is reasonable if driving say 10 miles or so in current weather.

Full service, did that include a cambelt change? How does the car drive? It should take off "mentally" from around 2K rpm or even less depending on gear and hoofiness of the right foot. If it's more "petrol" like or doesn't get going until higher up the rev range than maybe the cam timing needs a tweak.
