Monte Carlo engines

Featured Replies

How many petrol engine variants are there for the Fabia Monte Carlo? I have seen in the classifieds:

1.2 70hp (3 cyl?)

1.2 105hp (3cyl? Turbo'd?)

1.2 86hp (4cyl?)

Are there any more? Which is best to drive? Confused!

Petrol there is only the 1.2L 86bhp and the 105 both TSI

Not many 69 ps and it is a 4 cylinder 1.2 tsi 105 ps. Which I would think would be preferable to a 86 ps

The 86 is not bad (my dad has one in his fabia ii elegance) pulls well and good econ, but I would think the extra power of the 105bhp would be useful.

The 86 dose not feel like the car is under powered as the normally aspirated 1.2 dose the polo I had with the 1.2 was slow and was not very eco not very well suited to the heavier body style.

Didnt think the 1.2htp 70 is available in the monte?

Theres

1.2 tsi 86

1.2 tsi 105 (same engine, different map)

1.6 cr tdi 105

Not sure if theres a lowered powered cr tdi but i havent seen any advertised

I believe they sold 3 69 ps Monte Carlos in the UK in 2011, after they were registered as Demonstrators, or they might have been Media cars.

& these were for sale on Autotrader, and might still be coming up for sale from time to time.

There are plenty of 75 ps 1.6 TDi CR Monte Carlos on the market, or people maybe have them as keepers so not advertised for sale,

and buyers of used cars need to take care when buying,

check and be sure if it is a 75 ps or 105 ps one, because some dealers have advertised them wrongly.

(more than a dozen 75 ps TDI Monte Carlos advertised on Autotrader today.)

In Europe I believe just about every Fabia engine was available with the Monte, however the UK only got the high and low power TDI, the two TSI's and for a while the 1.2 HTP, all in manual only.

Understandable why the HTP was dropped over here, as according to the how many left website there were only 381 Monte Carlo 1.2 12v HTP registered as of the end of June this year. Bizarrely it also suggests there are two 1.4 16v Monte's which were registered in the third quarter of 2011 :wonder:

Otherwise it's a fairly even number of TSI and TDI, except for the Tech which was more popular in TSI form.

We went for the TSI 86; didn't feel the five speed manual box was a good match with the TSI 105.

TP

When we bought ours march 2012. There was the 70 petrol 1.2 still available on the option sheet
