New car decisions! Need advice!

Featured Replies

Greetings all!

Right the time has come to replace my beautiful 2013 Fabia!

I am facing a dilemma currently. My local stealers have offered me a Steel Grey VR Estate,  brand new kitted out with everything other than climate control. Comes with stuff like sat nav, electric windows, rear head rest and arm rest... you get the picture for around 18,000 after discounted contributions.

What would you guys do?

I'm also interested in the 208 GTI from Peugeot. I know the Fiesta ST is the better car but the 208 seems more refined.

They have to build the 208 GTI Prestige from scratch so I have a two month wait but the cost is around the same on PCP.

Should I stick with a Fabia and enjoy the new toys or move on and get into something more modern in the hot hatch world.. I really cannot decide!

Also I'm up from selling my current Fabia VRS for around £10,500 if anyones interested. PM for details. It has finance one but I would clear that.

Thanks in advance guys! :)

go for something more modern

im also in the same boat, fiesta ST, pug 208 gti are high on the list but theres a LOT of nice cars, i also like the mazda 3

really really spoiled for choice just now

18,000 is far too much imo. That is a crazy price to pay.

The boot is really useful in the estate. I couldn't swap mine for the others on those grounds alone

The retail price is 20,600 GBP so its a saving but I know what you mean. The cars getting long in the tooth and isn't worth that much in the current market. The estate is something I totally understand. Its nice to have the 4 doors and big boot. Is this enough to warrant a old chassis design and poor driving dynamics versus new cars.. I just don't know!

The retail price is ridiculous. Unless someone like you buys it. It will be registered at the end of the month and they still struggle to get 16.500 for it.

18k is too steep imho. Take some test drives to help you decide. If you don't need 5-doors an auto box or a big boot then the Fiesta ST would get my vote.

18k?

Lordy

Extras don't add much when it comes to sell on again, apart from desirability

Tell 'em you'll give them 14k or you're going to Ford or Peugeot for a few years

They'll say no but don't be surprised if the phone rings.....

Please take the worth of this advice for what it's cost you:-)

But if all are on PCP I'd go for whichever model would still be current at the end of the PCP.   You know that the vRS will be long replaced by then so if the residual value is important to you I'd probably look at the others.

Personally I love the Skoda and would negotiate the price as hard as possible or find another - there will be a deal to be done on many makes and models of car if you're willing to lay out your current car plus £8K or so.

There's a grey vRS estate , delivery miles in our local garage at 14,900
