I'm going to inherit SWMBOs old iPhone 4S, but as it's on 3 it'll need unlocking. Now 3 allegedly unlock them for free but have yet to respond to my request. Are there any other free methods for unlocking an iPhone?

They seem to be saying they will do it for free. Quite surprised, 3 were always a **** to get things unlocked. I'd stick with it a bit longer. The link above might help if you've not seen it.

Family member is looking to get a Tmobile one unlocked, but seems Tmobile want £25

Three unlocked my iPad for free it took just under a week to do and all I got was a text saying it had been unlocked just hang in there.

it has to be done by the network the phone is locked to, its the only way. iPhones are locked on Apples servers, the network operator submits a request to Apple to allow the unlock, and the phone then unlocks via a connection to iTunes.

Three do not charge, but I paid T-Mobile to unlock my old iPhone4 prior to selling it.

I heard operators cannot charge as long as the phone is paid for?
