Oil for 1.2 TSI

Featured Replies

Will any oil that meets VW 502 00 spec. be ok to top up my 1.2 TSI 86? Some are 0W30 and some are 5W30 (or 40.) I asked the parts dept. at the main dealer and they asked what oil was in the engine. I asked how I would know that and they said the service engineer will have noted it in your service book. I told him it was only a month old and won't be serviced for another 11 months! he said that the oil type should be stated in the pre-delivery service report - it isn't! There is no service book as such. Does anyone know what type and grade of oil will be my car's engine and what I should use for topping-up (assuming I ever need to)?

VW502 is OK if you intend to service every year or 10k miles but for variable service you need oil to VW504.

Have a look in the site sponsors section for;

Have a look in the spare wheel well at the sticker and look for Q16   If it it on the sticker then it is variable so vw504. What i do is when i have it serviced in 12 months or 10,000 miles i have them change to fixed service so i use vw502
