bit of a stupid error in my part

Featured Replies

Hi, bit embarrased by this as it's never happened before and I think I pushed my luck a bit. About a week ago my car had about 10 miles range left so I winged it and drove to work. Got about 20 yards outside the petrol station I chose to use and it started coughing. Put a fair bit of fuel in and it carried on no trouble. Ever since when I'm idling it splutters a bit, read somewhere online this could be the fuel filter? Any advice? Cheers.

Fuel filter would be the first thing to change, running a tank empty will pull any crap in the bottom of the tank through to the filter.

Yeah I figured it would. Regretting it now believe me! Don't suppose you know of any 'guides' if you like for changing them do you? Gonna be left to my own devices for this by the looks of things.

Not sure about the tsi, but on most of the TDi’s they are located behind the drivers side headlight and require a torx bit to remove the bolts, dead easy to change... the tsi may be different though!

petrol filters in general are mostly at the rear near the tank close to a rear wheel   hope it's a clue
