You'd be better off posting this in the Octavia subforum, or ask a mod to move this one as you've posted this in website and forum issue, which is forum specific and not for car problems.

sorry am new here  jars  you say  Octavia subforum  or ask a mod , may i ask how do i do this please

Moved

i did my clutch last week.

for the flywheel i did them pretty tight onto the crankshaft

for the pressure plate i did them fairly tight, within reason because they were only small screws, and make sure you evenly tighten them opposites to each other.

for the inner single bolt in the diff side of the driveshafts i found this wasnt that tight when i un did it, so i tightened this until i felt go hard up and then tightened a little bit more, but not over the top.

for the hub nuts i did them as tight as i could without going mad, with a 60 cm powerbar, they are usually very tight anyway.

if you use copper slip you will always overtighten the screws compared to the torque wrench so bear that in mind.

i had the same problem the haynes manual was useless for torque figures most of the time!

but i dont think garages will check the torque figures precisely! i cant imagine that.

just get a feel for it, you can always tighten and loosen to compare what it feels like :)

Do you have to drop subframe to remove the box out? Im going to be putting a reconditioned box in mine at some point.

Yeah iirc unless you do it all through the top but that might be a bit tight

P34RC3      there is no subframe to remove  just a gear mountain  attached to gearbox then to subframe

you dont need to drop subframe.

ideally you need too

1) undo both hubnuts on the ground then jack up

2) undo the two lower balljoints on the subframe

3) undo the driveshaft cups with the six 10 mm spline screws in

4) undo the inner single bolt in the cup that is attached the diff, do this on both sides and pull them out of the diff. id drain gearoil first for this. you can then pull these cups out of the diff. and pull your driveshafts out.

so driveshafts are out of the way.

5) take of left wishbone just to give a bit more access

6) obvs take off all the other parts in the engine bay and plastics in the way. and make sure gearbox is in neutral.

doing it this way will make it dead easy to drop out the box, you can leave the driveshafts in but its a turd to get the box back in this way!

take your time and youll figure it out easily enough

hope this helps

hi dave 190

dont suppose  you know  the  torque setting  for my post at top lol

@toxicvrs

I dont know how youd get the box out of the top!

i dont know the torque settings bud, i just did mine to what i felt right :)

i guess youve taken all of those bits apart, so i just roughly try and remember how tight they are :P
