What size boost pipes?

Featured Replies

Will be starting my boost pipes soon but don't know what size pipe to go for.

What size have other people got?

What are the pros and cons of each size?

What size are airtec and darkside?

Thanks

mine are 2 1/4" i had 2 1/2" found it more laggy with the bigger pipes tbh i go with the smaller ones m8

I use 2.25"... Bigger ones will make it more laggy, my seat sport outlets needed 63mm to get over the lip

That's my thinking, currently my top pipe is 2" and seems big enough. Checked and darkside are 2.25" so can't decide which to go for!

Egr delete pipe size - 52mm / 2"

Turbo outlet - 52mm / 2"

Intercooler - 62.5mm / 2.5"

2" is ideal for around 200bhp/230bhp any more i would say bigger pipes

Turbo outlet size tells you all you need to know, any bigger just increases inlet tract volume and slows gas speed thereby increasing lag. Of course if you fit a turbo with a bigger outlet then you need pipework to match.

2in is plenty. It's all about air speed. As long as you don't hit the speed of sound then your fine. 2in is good for an estimate of 500+cfm.

2" it is then, will be easier to fit and work around anyway! Just need to check I can get silicone reducers from 62.5 to 52.... It's quite a jump!

Mine are 57mm. 51mm would need a fair bit less trimming of the bumper and slam panel etc :)

As above, even the Gtb's are only 51mm outlet so no point in going bigger as Dan says it just makes it tighter to route pipes and more cutting of bumper etc :)

Good positive feedback then, 2" pipes seem to be the way to go!

Found reducers for the intercooler so that's no problem either, all good!

Im running 57. 60 and upto 63 for cooler. Mine kind of resonates like a boost leak. But should have went smaller in hine site
