Amundsen map update downloading

Featured Replies

Hello, I've tried many times to download the map updates for my Amundsen with no success, or rather, having downloaded the file using Dta when I try to extract it with 7zip it fails to open. This is on a win7 machine with the latest Firefox and 7 zip versions. Once the file is downloaded the file name looks ok, just won't open. Has anyone any suggestions for what may be wrong please? One thing, when starting the download Dta has a hash option, the default that comes up is sha1, is this the one to use? Haven't even got the files on my PC yet let alone the SD card. Dealer was predictably less use than a chocolate teapot.

Thanks in hope!

Is there a new version out?

Certainly is since I got the car last September. Updates were nov and June.

I take it Dta is some kind of download accelerator?

Try deleting what you have downloaded already and downloading using IE or Chrome without any download accelerator?

Done that, doesn't work at all!

Have you tried the 6 part download instead of the single file version?

I've got the latest file for Amundsen that I know works! I could put them on my server (200mbit) if you like to try downloading that one?

Btw I've also one with speed cams for Sweden :)

Not being funny, but I have just downloaded it to test and it works fine, so I'm not sure what you are doing wrong.

What is the size of the file you have downloaded?

Works fine for me, so you either have a corrupted download or not extracting the file correctly?

Extract it to your PC then copy it across to the original Amundsen SD card (after formatting it as FAT32)

The problem is that whilst the files download (sometimes!), 7zip won't correctly extract them. I am trying again using my Linux machine, see if that works better. Failing that will have to try the Mac!

I did it a couple of days ago with no problems what so ever.

My machine is a virtual Win7 running on VMware Fusion with the newest version of 7-Zip and Chrome browser.

I just selected all 7 file parts and extracted with 7-Zip.

After that I copied the data to the original Skoda SD card and it just worked...

Yes please. How? Any for Columbus too?

I found some links to vw Germany's homepage and there you can add "favorite" poi's.

I uploaded a complete file with all speed cams to that site and then just download the poi file that's generated.

Put it on usb stick and flip the write protect switch on map sd card.

When you then attach the usbstick Amundsen will automatic tell you that it found new updates on the stick and ask you what to do. Press install and whaaallaa! Now you have speed cams.

I'm on my phone now and don't have the link in my head but I'm sure I found it in Octavia 2 section.

Ok, I think I have solved the problem, mainly by firing up my Ubuntu laptop, installing the Dta plugin on the copy of Firefox, then faultlessly downloaded the big file in one go, installed the 7zip extension in Archive Manager, unzipped the file to my big external hard drive, now transferring to my work PC which has a card drive slot! User friendly uh? By the way when I took the SD card out of the car it was in slot 1, I thought it was supposed to be in slot 2?

That was a lot of faff when everyone else seems to have no problems on a Windows PC?

Did I mention that mine is a MacBook?

My PC is a work one with anti virus and malware stuff in it which may have been interfering with either or both the download or 7zip. Mind you I never have problems with downloading and unzipping much smaller files. Files now in the SD card, try in the car tomorrow....

And just to complete the picture, popped the SD card into the car and it worked fine.

Mine also & was put in there by the dealer, however it has worked fine in slot 1 & sd music card works OK in slot 2 so guess it can't make much difference even though manual states should be in slot 2.
