Rear disc and pads change

Featured Replies

Do I need any special tools to do this, and is there a how to anywhere? the car is a 2010 1.6 diesel.

Pete

You need a caliper rewind tool but apart from that it's dead easy.

Video below doesn't show removing the discs, but the carrier simply unbolts then they come off.

Thanks, so no problems or things to watch out for regarding handbrake cables?

Are you saying once the calipers are off the discs just come off?

Pete

No just let your handbrake off and chock the car.

One the caliper is out of the way a couple of bolts hold the carrier on. Take that off and the disc will then come off.

Thanks that cleared that up, wind back kit ordered, discs and pads to source any recomendatition, the Pagid ones seem good value.

Pete

Pagid ones are cheap enough and have a coating so they don't go rusty around the centres unlike some other cheaper parts.

One last question, does the drivers side piston screw in anticlockwise and the passenger side clockwise?

Pete

They are both the same way round.

Some coilovers, and a RARB will help you do both sides only jacking one side HTH

Which way?

I think they wind back in clockwise but don't quote me on that.

I just bought the kit that I linked to as it has a whole range of adapters and has two threads so can be used for either way round.

Carrier doesn't need to come off to remove the disc.

Actually thinking about it you're right, it can be moved out with a bit of levering around the carrier.

I took the carrier off to clean it as it was easier off the car.
