skoda octavia scout with DSG box

Featured Replies

hopefully i've come to the best place?

looking at getting a Scout as a taxi, in DSG guise, however, when i went to test drive an i40, the salesman stated that he used to work for Skoda and that box had to have mave service/rebuild at 60K miles, is this correct? so maybe best to avoid?

also he stated that the fuel consumption figures are way off what is claimed, now i know they aren't anything to go by, but maybe some real life figures would be good?

thanks in advance

sorry, can this be moved to Octavia mk 2 ?  cheers

There are some gearboxes that have problems... but most are fine! Just like manual boxes.

They require a gear oil change at 40k miles.

There's a member on here that recently changed cars using an Octavia 2.0 DSG as a Taxi and racked up silly mileage without any major problems.

All manufacturers fuel consumption figures are completely irrelevant to the real world - it is a set rolling road procedure to get the figures so that they are all on a level playing field and measuring the same way.

Any salesman that tries to sell you a car by dissing the opposition needs a wide berth as they obviously have nothing good to say about what they are trying to sell you.

cheers all, so what kind of fuel economy figures are we looking at?

gearbox oil change every 40K could turn out to quite expensive in the long run

It's about £170 at main dealer.

Parts can be had for around £75 or £50+ if you're not bothered about using genuine oil.

It's pretty easy to DIY if you're up to it. Doing mine soon.

Wow a salesman that tells fibs!
