NeverWet (Superhydrophilicity)

Featured Replies

You'd be better off with a proper glass coating like G1.

Neverwet on your windscreen would mean it's no longer a windscreen :)

  • 9.  Can NeverWet be applied to glass?
  • Yes, but the glass will no longer be transparent. NeverWet dries to a Flat Frosted Clear color, therefore, it should never be applied to windshields or automobile windows. NeverWet will work on any glass that you want to have superhydrophobic properties, but don’t need to see through.

I want to paint my house in that stuff.

Could you paint a child with it?

Do not use it on glass. It mists up and you cant see. May aswell use brasso. Only really good for white things such as shoes etc. As it leaves a white residue behind.

Looks impressive but the reality is not as good - wears off after a day or so. For the many reviews of how good it is, there are the same number claiming it's rubbish.

There's plenty of rain clearing sprays you can pick up from motor factors stores for your windscreen. I use Rain X in winter, it makes a noticeable difference especially in heavy spray.

Sounds like them ceramic frying pans coops... Great for 6wks then everything welds itself to the w@nking thing.

I used rain-x last winter, great for a few days, then it caused my wiper blades fo stat hopping and skipping on the glass... Fecking dragging was a pita, had to scrub the glass to.get it.to.stop, never put the rain x back on...

Aquapel, Carlack or Gtechniq do better products than Rain-X

I found my latest application of RainX to be the best I've ever had, It lasted a good 2 months :D Now I've got some G4 and am waiting for the weekend to clean the car and put some on.

Luckily my car is already waterproof!

Snap, have never had an issue using it.

Before this latest application I have been having bother with streaks and it didn't last long at all. But I think it's all down to how you apply it.

Iv herd a few things about that Rain X stuff like use of window wipers over it causes it to loose effectiveness so the area surround it stays treated and the arch its back to normal.

Why do I need to water proof my car or windscreen? I use my wipers when it rains and I've never had an issue with rain damaging the paint. Sounds like a bit of a giimick, but that's just a northern common sense opinion ;)

Hate water marks or smears or the interior mist up streaks !

That's why these minor scratches on my windowscrren are driving me crazy gona see if auto glass can help if not might just replace it

VFM wise Rain-X is a good product however the likes of Aquapel and Gtechniq can offer over 6 months durability.

I tried rain x last winter. It caused my wipers to judder like mad for ages.

I wont be using it again

Exact same problem i had, and I did follow all the instructions....

Rain-X does work, problem is you need to clean the windscreen very thoroughly first (isopropanol) and once applied, keep the layer topped up every now and then. It causes judder when the silicate layer becomes discontinuous, so if you decide to stop using it, it is time for another very thorough windscreen cleanout.

Rain-X works better on motorway than in the countryside/town, though. I have used it for nearly every trip abroad (80+). I had a couple trips where I only used wipers once at a start of over a 1000 mile drive. It makes a huge difference when driving in heavy rain. Though it would be nice if it did not require repeated applications...
