faster car

Featured Replies

Thanks for the reply lads ,I'm going to have a look at a cupra r.c if the wife will let me swap.

You want a faster car than a cupra so you're switching to a... cupra? Switch to something actually quicker... Evo FQ300 or any of the higher models, BMW 335i etc. The way I think of it, someone is always going to own a quicker car than me, so there's really no point in basing how pleased I am with my car on how good someone elses car is.

Ask him for a test drive to compare, slam it into a tree, job done.

Cheers for the reply lads I'm just terrible for swapping my cars, any excuse to swap,I do really like my car I picked for a reason.good on juice, quick, loads a room and looks good.

It just seems rather sad that you would change your car to be faster than someone else?

In reality who really cares?

My car couldnt pull on a milkfloat but it doesnt bother me. I own it because I want to own it

That and the insurance wouldn't let you drive anything else, wasn't it? :P

Nah i can get insurance just wanted a diesel.

Had a mapped octavia vrs petrol so insurance isnt an issue. Expensive though

Of course folding seats down makes a car faster, by decreasing wind resistance.

Not necessarily the fresh outside stuff we like to breathe though!

My best mate's dad used to own a Lada Riva - mushroom beige with the brown plastic seats.

He stuck a Turbo badge on and always claimed it added at least 10bhp.  Might be worth a try?

Sadly the TDI is nothing like as easily tunable as a TSI.

One of the big things that holds the CR back I gather is fueling....may not be the case now but it wasn't possible to get bigger injectors for the CR like it is for the PD. Those really committed to tuning the 1.9 and 2.0 P'S with big injectors and turbos do see 3 - 400 hp and unbelievable amounts of torque (and exhaust soot!).

Generally it's a case of more fuel, air and boost, tweaking those bits and everything else to support it and stop it blowing up....Certainly on a petrol engine too much boost and not enough fuel/air causes detonation which in extreme cases would just blow the engine.

A Leon Cupra (if it's one of the newer 2.0 ones) basically has a detuned S3 engine so a simple map gets even the 240hp version to around 310/315hp as it has the same injectors, high pressure fuel pump and a KO4 turbo..even a 1.8 Cupra R can fairly easily see late 200's from a good map.

A well remapped stage 2 CR with DPF delete as others have said may see approx 230hp and may be 350/360 lb/ft torque....it will probably perform fairly similarly to a standard 2.0 Cupra but will always be disadvantaged by its short lower gearing and narrow power band.

Yer all getting too technical.     Black cars are always faster, he should've bought Black.
