Trade in value exceeding new car deposit

Featured Replies

Just a query on how people generally get paid from the dealership when the trade in is greater than deposit?

Bank transfer or cheque, whatever I prefer at the time.

Usually on collection of new car?

I had this situation. Salesman originally said we will give you a cheque when you pick up your new car. On the day he changed it to we will credit your bank account straight away. When 3 days later nothing had happened I went back only to discover my payment "request" was sitting in a pile on their accountant's desk. When I pointed out to the salesman that they would not have let me take the car away without them receiving my cleared funds he went and got the company bank card and transferred it into my account whilst I watched.

Or just use the whole car as deposit to reduce the payments even more.

Very similar except that on collection (20th sept ) it changed to "we will send the cheque in the post to you next week".  It's now a fortnight later and still no cheque - the cheque was sent (apparently) on the 29th Sept (still an good week after collection and after me chasing the week before) 2nd class post.

If you are using the 0%PCP there is a maximum deposit.

Not that I know off. I bought a car once on that type of payment system, when I asked how much of a deposit I could give, the salesman said as much as you want.

If you've not got the cheque tomorrow, write to the Dealer Principal using registered post, mark the envelope "Private and Confidential: Addressee Only", advising him that if you have not received the outstanding funds within 7 days of his receiving this letter you will be raising an action to recover the funds, expenses and interest on same.
