Rapid versus Toledo - Toledo cheaper and better spec - leverage?

Featured Replies

I see that Skoda have reduced the sales subsidy on the Rapid from £2000 to £1500 for Q4.

SEAT still have £2000 subsidy in Q4.

Also the Toledo S has aircon were the Rapid S does not.

Why would anyone currently buy the Rapid S over the Toledo S and anyone had any success if negotiating extra discount on a Rapid SE accordingly?

You can get £3,500 off the Rapid SE 105 (so under 12k) and over £4,500 off a top spec one which is excellent vfm. The Toledo offers slightly better value IMO due to the fact it gets more kit but discounts are slightly less overall (13.7k for a top spec SE Nav) Personally I prefer the look of the Toledo, externally, especially from the rear but I prefer the interior quality of the Rapid. I'd so much rather deal with the local Skoda dealer than Seat one also!

Dilhemma.

Indeed have always found Skoda dealers better than the SEAT ones but then I presume you could easily have a TOLEDO serviced at a Skoda garage after purchase.

Had several SEATS, you use to only get 10K servicing rather than variable which was a pain.  Even had a Toledo which then they called an Altea XL. Father had a Toledo but that was a Truimph.

The 0% offer sounds goods and PCP is also increasingly the better option these days after the VAT hike to 20% a couple of years ago.

Chipping the 1.6D with DSG also appealing, 135 hp sounds better than 90 hp and 0-60s in 12s when 9 should be achievable.

the Skoda dealer wouldn't be able to provide the free servicing on a Seat unfortunately. If you're considering the remap route then I guess you'll be paying the final figure on a pcp and keeping the car - from what Shark has achieved with the 1.6tdi this is a route I'd consider however I'm quite a fan of the 1.2tsi unit tbh. There was talk of the Toledo receiving the same interior upgrades that the Rapid got but I can't find any news about it online now...

Since I do over 30K miles a year I would get all those 3 services in the first 10 months and then change it to variable.

Yes I would have to buy it but at least I would only pay the VAT on the value after the 3 years ie less than half the amount on the new price.

Will have a look at the Toledo tomorrow as I visiting the area where the SEAT dealer is then.

Torque could be over 300 Nm, up from 230 Nm, but I think that would be fine though over the limity or perhaps a special map holding the torque not much over 250 with the 135 hp still occuring at around the 4K revs and the torque at that point only being around the 200 Nm mark.

The SEAT importer discount of 2k is just the starting point.  You should get close to double that off a new one, let alone pre-reg or demo.

Noticed at lunchtime today that broker4cars actually have over £4,600 off the SE Nav 1.2TSi Toledo so under £12,000 all in! That's pretty immense vfm IMO. :)

S UK very worrying.

Cannot even get their website accurate.

weblink says £2K off but when you go behind it, in Q4, it says only £1500,  £500 less than last quarter.

There was both a Toledo and an Altea XL, two different cars, neither particularly good looking...
