EML, red oil light and ESP light

Featured Replies

Recently had the EML light come on which was diagnosed as a valve problem, which would need replacing if the light came on again. Thankfully it hasn't, however tonight I got the red oil warning light flashing and beeping about 2 miles from home, taking it very steadily I 'crawled' towards home but after about a mile the ESP light came on and everything died! Won't restart so abandoned until I can get towed (?) to a garage on Monday.

Sounds like it could be expensive, has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

Car is a 55 vRS.

Thanks.

red oil light sounds like oil pressure problem

Check the oil level !

Anything Red on the dash, stop and check immediately. Red oil light can be catastrophic for the engine as it means its not getting enough or possibly no oil. No / low oil pressure will kill the turbo charger and cause the engine to seize. With the red oil light you should stop and switch off as soon as its safe and arrange recovery.

Only amber lights are safe to continue slowly.

Update:

Inspected by local Skoda dealer, the cambelt had gone and the engine had seized!

Towed from dealer today and gone to the great scrap heap in the sky.

The search for a new car goes on.
