My speedo has just blew and now does not work at all meaning I can't start my car or anything, just went on eBay and bought a new speedo from the same car to the same criteria I have a few questions

How do I code the new speedo?

How do I change the mileage on the new (but used) speedo to math my existing?

I can program the keys it's just the speedo Im going to have trouble with, I inkw I need to get the skc pin so I have ordered vag tacho but what are the instructions to do this

Any help would be highly appreciated

You'll need VCDS

You'll need VCDS

More than that, IIRC normal VCDS cannot program the cluster/key for the coding.

There is a chap on here who does alot of key coding and should be able to advise.

It's not the keys I need help coding I can do that and have done before, it's the speedo I need to code it to the ecu but I don't have the codes from my old one

Sorry i meant i think you need special software to pull the code from the dials. and the dials cant be changed

what are the chances of having the dials repaired?

Isn't it vagtacho?

Just swap the speedo from the replacement cluster into your old cluster, voila, no coding needed.

Also stop blowing up the cars electronics, you're a repeat offender now, just because you have a soldering iron and 'helping hands' does NOT mean you should be fannying around with the cars electrics.

It's always nice that there's a fellow Briskodian who is good at burning out electrics

That made me laugh.

But some people are happy at giving stuff a bash, even if it does go wrong. I accept that it may cost me twice, three times as much even than if I let a professional do it, but I want to learn and don't have anyone willing to teach, so who are you to tell anyone to stop?!?(with all due respect :p )

Did make me laugh too :giggle:

I'm all in favour of people 'having a go' actually. I was being 'tongue in cheek' so you were indeed supposed to laugh. I'll help anyone but I expect to be able to exact my payment by extracting the micturition.

Yeah I realised after hitting post that it was probably meant tongue in cheek and there's nothing wrong with extracting the urin, if it comes across as a joke or in a light-hearted manor ;)

What were you doing to break it? :p
