Aero Wipers

Featured Replies

I know we've been here before looking for Aero wipers but I had a thought earlier - Would the polo ones fit?

Have checked ETOS and they are the same length and have similar part numbers.

Fabia 2000 - 2005

6Y2 955 410 wiper arm (passenger side)

6Y2 955 409 wiper arm (drivers side)

Polo 2003 - 2005

6Q1 955 410 wiper arm (passenger side)

6Q1 955 409 wiper arm (drivers side)

I've got the numbers and prices for the Polo Aero ones - Not cheap but I may be able to sort something out there though.

What I really wanted to know is does anyone know if the arms are the same shape on the Polo & Fabia?

I believe Andy Ellis used Polo ones ... required a bit of butchering I think, but he posted a how-to guide on it about a year ago :D

Chris

IIRC Andy ellis said it works out as quite an expensive mod...

what is the benifit of these "aero" wipers anyway?

They look smoother and if you read the hype they work better.

Just found Andy's post on the subject - looks like the polo arms are different.

I also find the standard wipers fully effective - so no reason to change for performance reasons - and yes, I've noticed the passenger one is curved; very odd at first until you realise why...

The rear aero wiper from a 9N Polo is a straight swap, but I'll confirm that on Wednesday when mine arrives!

Not gonna do the fronts yet, as I don't like the thought of hacking up the standard ones!

Fronts are different for sure.

Please do let us know - would be a good mod imo.

I like the rear wiper but would be interested to see the polo one.

I'll try to take some pics when I've got it fitted.

Blade, arm & cap should cost around

I can confirm that the Polo or Ibiza rear one fits fine, though the cap doesnt seem to click home as it should.

As for the front ones, I have tried to source Aerotwin Retrofit Blades (Bosch A533S) from Germany without luck so far. As for the Polo arm / blade combo, its a no go and fouls the bonnet on the fabia. I've tried some Trico Innovision blades (similar idea to aerotwin) but they are horrendous and judder all over the screen. Last I heard, Bosch were introducing the Aerotwin retro blades in Q4.

Tested the rear wiper for fit last night. It fits alright, but will need a couple of washers to raise the cap off the glass slighty.

Due to curvature of the cap, when the wiper swipes, the cap comes in contact with the glass & unclips itself.

I could shave a couple of mm off the bottom of the cap to achieve the same result.

There is a guy on porka.net that has one fitted, I dont like it myself

Had to grind flat the bottom surface of the cap in the end. Fits like a glove now.

Looks a lot more neater.

Pics at the weekend when I get my tailgate done.

After the down pour last night, the rear wiper works far better than the standard one.

In fact, they're so good I'm investigating into some retro fit aero blades for the front.

I'll let you know my findings asap.
