Front indicators

Featured Replies

Hi all

this is a little embarrassing, but am I the only one who has trouble changing the front indicator bulbs?

One went out tonight and I couldn't get the new one working. I would get it to flash when I pushed it on contacts but then it'd go out when I let go - if now ended up with the bulb falling off inside the housing and me wondering if the holder is faulty (but in my head the word isn't as tame as 'faulty'!!)

Does and one else have a chew with these? I think I'll have to drop my bumper and get the light off won't I?

cheers

Not normally, but if I am honest I have lost a rear bulb in the light housing once upon a time :giggle:

Have a look at where the little bayonet 'pegs' are on the base of the bulbs you're fitting.  There are (at least) two types, the one that fits has these pegs not quite opposite each other.  If you try to fit a bulb where the pegs are directly opposite, it doesn't go into the holder correctly.

The contacts can be a bit dodgy as they are on the holder and light housing. You need to make sure they're clean and that you've got the holder in properly.

Could you get a piece of stiff wire with some sticky tape or suchlike on the end to get the bulb out of the housing?

And what Wino said. The bulbs are 581.

I know that the bulb is defiantly the right one.

I also just checked the bulb I took out and its still working so it looks like the housing/holder is faulty as the bulb was in there fine for months

Trip to the scrappy on the cards then!

..but even if it is faulty I still remember the job being a nightmare haha

Cheers :)
