On my way to work this morning my car developed quite a loud squeak. Its like a brake squeak or like when u are tightening a really dry rusty bolt. The wierd thing is that it only happens when i am accelerating, even slight acceleration will cause it altho its worse when u get up to 4th or 5th gear speeds. I get no noise if i just free rev the engine so i dont think its pulley related.

Any ideas what i should check first?

jack up that side and spin the front wheel by hand to see if you still get the noise - if you do just try to work out a smaller location to start looking
