Has anyone sat in the 'New 3rd Generation Fabia' yet?

Featured Replies

Anyone at the Paris Motor show or been at the Factory or the likes, that has a Mk2 Fabia sat in the new one yet ?

Road Testers, Media Staff / Photographers, Factory Employees or just anybody.

Just interested to know how much roomier / spacious they feel inside with 2 cm more width up front.

I've just seen the new Fabia in Paris and up front the car didn't feel much more roomier than the Mark I or II - although overall it does feel airier/lighter and I noticed straight away that it's lower. The front seats felt more comfortable/supportive to me. The boot is pretty big but I didn't really check out the rear seats.

The cabin does feel nicer to me than the previous versions, and normal controls are where you expect them to be. The materials do feel nicer but the door cards looked a bit lacking in style/quality. It looks a lot more refined in person.

The stand really is about the Fabia - they had one Octavia (I think a Scout - no vRS), one L&K Superb, one Citigo, a Yeti and no Roomster.

Be interesting to see where the extra width has gone then, as the Fab III is wider than our Spaceback which seems to be very roomy inside, about on par with a previous Yeti.

Another reason to stay with our current Monte; car parks and the local single track country lanes do not suite wide cars, as we found with our short Octy III ownership.

The 'All new 3rd Generation Fabia'  is Wider outside measured to the Door Handles i suspect, the widest point of the car, if you do not include the mirrors.

They would not be a measurement to the Tornado Line which is narrower than those exterior door handles.

Which is really why i think the Reviews which come from the Skoda Media pack blurb say,

2 cm more space in the front.

The door handles are unlikely to be hitting other vehicles on narrow county roads, well not before the mirrors have been hit.

Wow, I didn't realise it was wider than the Rapid - that's interesting. To be fair to the car it does seem comfortable and maybe the extra room is more noticeable on a drive/when you're living with the car. For me the different height was more immediately apparent.

Every now and again I give four adults a lift in a Fabia... I'm sure they would notice the difference!

The Skoda figures for the 'All New Fabia' @ 90 mm (3 1/2") wider than the MK2 FLs 1642 mm.

have it being 25 mm (1") wider than the Rapid Space Back excluding mirrors.

Spaceback is measured from front wheel arch to wheel arch re width, not sure about Fab III but your right about the oversized door handles, a feature I didn't like on the Octy III. Much prefer the old Golf IV style items currently used, much less intrusive looking, albeit they have been adorning Skoda's since the Fab I.

As new platforms come out, the doors get deeper and deeper. This is to increase side impact protection to next generation standards.

We will need to look forward to a new Platform then when there are All New Fabias with an actual different one.,

Because this is just the same as the MK2,

but as Skoda say, 'with the addition of some MBQ Components'.   ie, the New Euro 6 Engines can be fitted, and the new body.

This 3rd Generation All New Fabia did not even require New Type Approval.

It just got made a bit wider to almost the same as the MK5 Polo Face Lift and the A1.

Not so sure there is any greater side crash protection on the new sculptured doors or sills.

Hope they improve the rear leg-room in rear seats, because my old MK1 Fabia, and tried-out MK2 Fabia is pretty tight.

With a 5'9"height driver (me) rear leg-room requires child or short small legged adult, to sit normally with feet under driver's seat...LOL

The mk3 just looks like a blend of an a1 and a polo, nothing too exciting..

Considering they share most of the mechanical parts, it's no surprise, the Fabia is bigger than them both though.

You're never really going to get an exciting looking Skoda, it's not in the brand's principle, read smart and non offensive.

Maybe it's new for u, but Skoda is not about excitement.
