How to change the fuel filter on a 2006 petrol vrs

Featured Replies

Hi

As the title says how do I change the fuel filter on a 2006 petrol vrs.

I did a search and there are several posts on diesel filter replacement and a couple pointed me to golf sites- the game not the car.

Can anyone help

Thanks

It's under the car near the filler cap.

Need to remove a screw to get the old filter out its plastic holder - you might find the screw is completely rusted and needs its head drilled off and the screw replaced.

Video here for a different model, but more or less the same idea, with regards to removing the hoses etc:

As above,i changed mine a few months ago & had to drill the head off the screw as it was corroded away, thankfully there was enough of the screw left to remove it with mole grips, easy enough to release the clips on the pipes & replace the filter.

With regards to the rusty screw did you replace it with a normal self tapping screw as it looks like it just pinches the pieces of plastic together

just a self tapper or a PK screw - whatever you can find in the shed that will grip / work

Yes,i just drilled off the head of the old screw & removed what was left with mole grips then used a new self tapping screw to secure the plastic bits together. Mine was 6 years old & had covered around 55,000 miles & when i drained the old filter the fuel was brown that came out & i cut the filter open & it was very yucky in there, for some reason skoda dont list a change interval for the petrol fuel filter......

I often wondered that too, the fuel filter is a service item on the diesel, but no mention of it for the petrol engines, very strange.

Changed my filter just managed to get screw out with out drilling, as its not a service item I thought I would open the filter to see its condition (2007 54k)which isn't to bad but dirt can been seen and its a 6.6 bar filter now as well(I would post a pic but cant find how to)
