New octavia owner with a few questions

Featured Replies

Hi all, am new to the forum as i recently purchased a 59 reg octavia vrs tsi estate with dsg and love the car, but i have a few questions that hopefully someone on here can answer. Firstly, the oil tempterature on the mfa display doesnt show any oil temperature, was wondering if its an easy repair and if anyone else has had the same issue and can point me in the right direction? Secondly, sometimes when changing gear from reverse to park i get a strange noise from behind the dash....sounds almost like an electric motor. And thirdly, i occasionally get a vibrating noise from the passenger side of the dash when accellerating and braking. Any help is greatly appreciated

Marc

The dash rattle could be the common one from the glovebox or the screws close to it. This thread has a lot of potential fixes, successful or otherwise:

I sorted mine by removing the arrowed screw in the image in post #3 and applied a bit of copper grease before re-fitting. Been fine for a couple of months..

The oil temp wasn't available on the 59 plate cars - or at least it wasn't on mine!

Thanks for the replies, had a look into the dash rattle and seem to have cured it for now lol. Noticed i get the electric motor noise from behind the dash when i select reverse and start to move back. Any ideas what this might be??

Mines a 2010 and was also wondering about oil temp, its on display with just lines across

That's probably the climate system going into re circulation mode which it does when you select reverse.

It only seems to make the noise when u actually start to move though? You can select reverse and it wont do it till you move

Actually had time to have a play about dismorning and it is climate system going into recirculation. Only had the car 4 days and been working alot since then so not had chance to have a proper play

As far a oil temp display is concerned I believe it is available on maxidot when variable servicing has been opted for.

I stand to be corrected though
