Cracked Bumper

Featured Replies

Some twit has bumped into my car and cracked my front bumper. Then drove off.

I'd like to replace it, as cheaply as possible. Where could i get an undamaged second handed bumper or new one?
I'll work out how to fit it afterwards or bring it to a local garage if its to big a job.

Car 2010 Skoda Fabia, TDI, red!

Is it a pre-facelift or a facelifted car though?

Welcome to the forum.

Maybe check local Independent Body Shops if there are any around you.

They may have a Taken Off and replaced Bumper that they can repair, or have repaired if yours is not able to be Plastic Welded ,

(because the Insurance required a new one fitting.)

Or even check at a Skoda Dealership,

But often panels are off for recycling or disposal of quite quickly.

'Or it is down to finding on Breakers, Ebay, Gumtree, Briskoda 'For Sales' etc.

But best obviously if you can Inspect and Collect Locally.

Is it a pre-facelift or a facelifted car though?

I'm not to sure to be honest! what is the difference?

I've got a ball park figure from a dealer of around 550/600 quid, i'd rather not pay that much,

Called a few salvage yeards without success.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-2010-FRONT-BUMPER-GENUINE-SKODA-PART-ZE-/121422490715?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c45582c5b this part looks the job, would be able to slip my grilles and blanks in? it looks to be a prefect colour match too. Would a garage or body shop be happy to fit it?

What model is it?

If it's a Fabia 1, 2,  3 or Sport it's a pre-facelift

If's its S, SE or Elegance it'll be a facelift.

Also, what engine size is it? Might be another way to tell. If it's the 1.9 diesel, it's definitely pre-facelift.

You need to give the Info asked above.

Do not buy like that from Ebay unless you are collecting.

It says 'needs respray',  that might not just mean because of Colour, Lacquer can be coming off,

or some damage, or already badly painted / Lacquered.

Maybe talk to some local places,

Body Shop type places, say its not an Insurance Job, and see what is what.

Very few even 'Kerb Side Autos', want to mess about fitting or trying to something you appear with which might

not be that great.

I suggested checking out lightly damaged, or reburbished 'Take Offs' that they have, because that is where i get Replacements.

Local bodyshop, has quoted me £250 for replacement, paint and fitting. Is that a fair price?

Thanks So much folks

I would say it might well be a very fair price.

'Much Cheapness' actually.

Yeah! Sounds a Fair Price!!

When my Rear Bumper was replaced (someone crunched it whilst it was parked at work and drove off without a note etc...) I was quoted £260 Fitted/Painted but I went through my Insurance and just paid the Excess (Admiral Multi-Car), which at the time was £220 and I got a Courtesy car.

My New insurance (with Tesco's) has an Excess of £0, which would have been nicer!! :)
