reverse lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2002 1.4 fabia but my reverse lights don't work , I have checked fuse and bulbs which are ok we have arked the connector s to bypass the switch but they still didn't light . I don't want to buy a switch if that's not the problem , has anyone come across this problem before . Thanks kind regards Paul

Hi paull603,

Had the reversing lights stop working on my vRS.

It turned out to be a broken wire from the loom to the revesing light switch.

Good luck.

Just had same problem on my motor - one of the wires to the loom connector was broke therefor only 1 wire available. If you put a bent paperclip into both sockets at the connector in the loom (assume that is what you meant by arked) and use a multimeter from that paperclip to earth you should register a voltage - if not try putting a 12v supply to the paperclip and see if reversing lights come on. Silly question, but when you "arked" did you have the ignition on.

I've just discovered that a broken wire coming from the clip of the reversing light switch is my problem. How does one rectify this?

Cheers!

Is the wire snapped completely off the connector plug or is there some wire left coming out of it?

You can buy the pre wired connectors to splice onto your existing wires http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-AUDI-2-PIN-PLUG-1J0-973-702-CONNECTOR-1J0973702-FREEPOST-/171134563100?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27d86a331c&clk_rvr_id=841643644022&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true

Or you could maybe get one from a scrapyard.

Sorry for the picture quality but basically the snapped wire is just a stub at the switch end and the other end has swung round and barely pokes out of the plastic cover. The ends are circled in red.

You need to get another connector with some wire on and join it to your wires by soldering or whatever.
