Why are Skoda UK so tight with extras?

Featured Replies

Just spotted a new Rapid Black Edition under 13k.  It looks well smart, but most of the goodies included on the Toledo are missing!  No climatronic, audio remote, parking sensors - and that's just what I can see from the pictures.

Seen a couple of Sport models cheaper as well.  Not even got Sat Nav !

Right now BSM are offering Toledos at 12700 with the lot, so 13k with bigger wheels.

It's the same car - Skoda UK are robbers.

Sterling /  Pound in theUK.

Europe Mainland /  EU Monetary Area & they have the Euro,

But SEAT & Skoda are different Companies, CZ,  Spain,

 Parent Company German.

SEAT have offered better value in the UK for a long time now,

and very bad depreciation or Trade in unless you stick with SEAT when changing cars.

It is how it is with cars & Manufacturers and Dealers in the UK, & there are loads of choices available

to shop around.

I think they have gotten to that point now where you have to really want a skoda to buy one, there's no price incentive at all to go with the 'budget' brand that is skoda any more.

As I keep them for 10 years, I only really buy a car on price.  The best bargain available at the time of purchase is what I get.  If I 'd had the money available a month earlier it would have been something completely different.

I work for vw/audi group many moons ago - it was when skoda were seen as budget/ seat were sporty/ vw were for everyone and audi were prestige. Feel like that might be changing...

Let me try -

Skoda are quality, SEAT are cheap, VW are too expensive and Audi are for nobs

Nobs buy skoda's too.... Personally I wouldn't call skoda quality, not till they've sorted themselves out, the paintwork on the new skoda's is pathetic, some of the panels aren't even primed by the looks of it, it's hardly surprising they rust out.

Rust out? Really??

Rust out? Really??

Yeti have had rust issues and mk2 Octy

Yeah the late Octavia's are a devil for the sills rotting out and/or the paint bubbling up, the yetis have problems with the door pillars too and stone chips spreading out, it's just shoddy paintshop work, I don't know if they spray them by hand or whatever.

I resprayed a side of a yeti the other day where the panel had no primer or rust inhibitor or e coat or anything on it, they had literally just painted over the bare metal.

Well, they're a damn sight better than Mercedes!  Have had two of those rusting out..... A lovely E class that dissolved in front of my eyes, and an A class I bought my missus.

Oh yeah, Dad had one! That 95-02 E-class was a complete pile of poo.  Unreliable, Rusty - completely ruined Mercs rep in Germany - they ended up bottom of the JD Power survey over there.

Had two doors repaired on our last Yeti due to three small blisters appearing in the paint, which Skoda claimed were stone chips. We did however get them to pay for the repairs after 'writing' to the top.

Also had issues with Fabia's, the worst being a 2010 example we bought new; the paint lacquer coat started flaking off the bonnet in 'chunks' after two years. Got that repaired under warranty but the work carried out by the approved body shop in Hull was shocking (avoid), so we let that car go, as we were concerned anyway that the rest of the car might start to go the same way.

Does seem over the last few years to be Skoda's achilles heel and an area for QA improvement.

Ahh the old Brian Tindall place. Well still same people just name change as bad rep. I thought Prestige were VAG approved?
