are front brake hoses different length for 312mm brakes?

Featured Replies

I ordered two front hoses but realised I have 312mm brakes and the hose is too short!

What car do I get the front hose from?

I thought most people use the original hoses on the 312mm calipers?

I got the original part number of Skoda parts.com double checked who I ordered it with and side by side the original cable is 2/3 inches too short! And pagid versions in Eurocarparts are too! Argh!

I used the original brake hoses when i did mine. Have you got the calipers on the correct side??

Yes, on correct side!

Original one reach, if not get the ones from a 312 car which will be a bit longer, but stock will reach.

Unfortunatly they don't the ones on the car are longer! I will take a PIC later to show I'm not imagining things.

I don't understand! :notme:

What's too short and what's longer?

maybe the spec of the pattern part hoses is wrong? I had the same issue when I did a rear disc brake conversion on my 1.8T Felicia, when I was making up the hard brake pipes I used the rear brake hose from a mk3 golf at the caliper from the scrapyard so I knew how long to make the pipes, I purchased 2 new pattern part hoses from my local motor factors and they were about 150mm longer than the oem vw ones.

you may find that that hose you have would fit the standard original brakes if you tried it..

my motor factors has a book the thickness of a telephone directory I've looked through which has just brake and clutch hoses in, in the past when I've needed non standard hoses for upgrades etc I've just looked through and found a suitable hose with the correct end fittings and length etc, even if it's from a different vehicle manufacturer

The hose that is on the car is longer than the new one I ordered.  I have 312mm brake upgrade and the new hose is too short.

as you can see the new hose is shorter.  If I install the hose and put the middle metal part in the bracket on the suspension strut, the union at the end won't reach the caliper!

Now I'm confused, whats the new part you're fitting? Whats wrong with the line on the car?

Tt ones are longer but originals fit fine

This is exactly the same as on my car.

The standard ones are like this

These do not fit, they are not long enough (535mm)

Unfortunately they don't, they are an inch and bit too short.

Are they?

I fitted the ones that came with my 312's (from a tt)

I was sure others had used the originals but i may be wrong on that one (been a while)

I've 100% used originals, but tight but fit

I would search out those from a MK1 Octy vRS.

When I first put the 312's on I kept the original hoses on, but the hoses that were attached to the new brakes were longer, but used the what was already in place as it was less drama. It was tight IMO.

My first set of 312's were also from a TT? Not sure about the second set.

So the new ones are shorter than the ones on the car? The wrong part?

Did you manage to get the middle part of the hose connected to the slot on the wheel hub with the circlip in place?

I bent the bracket up a little to give a bit of slack, if u get what I mean

I also bent the bracket to give that little bit of slack on the pipe, had no issues using the standard pipes
