Jammed Underseat Storage Drawer - vRS

Featured Replies

I have just tried to open the storage drawer that is under the passenger seat in my Mk3 Octavia vRS and it appears to be jammed absolutely solid. No matter what I do, I can't seem to free it. I haven't experienced the problem before and I don't believe it is overloaded or that anything is stuck in it as, if I remember correctly, I only have a hi-vis vest and maybe a couple of spare bulbs in there.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can anyone please suggest a way that I might be able to get it open?

Does the handle move OK and the door is stuck, or is the handle stuck?

If the latter you might well have something jammed under it stopping it opening.  If the former.....er.............. ?????

Edit...

Just had another look at mine.  There are 2 metal pins that form the hinge which are not accessible from outside.

The handle mechanism appears (might be wrong as I haven't attempted to dismantle it) to be in 2 parts so might split open with force.  Will probably break though.

If there's something stuck under the catch forks, maybe try thumping the door to loosen it while parked facing uphill on the steepest hill you can find.

More of a cubby hole with a door on it, but yes indeedly-doo, there should be one there. :)
