Octy vrs engine in fabia?!?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if a octavia VRS engine would fit into my fabia VRS?

I love my vrs but i miss the sound of a roaring exhaust and dump valve.

I have had it 9 months from new and dont want to sell it to get a Focus RS

anyhelp will do! thanks

It is possible and a couple of the tuners have done something similar (although I think they started with a lesser model petrol Fabia).... the biggest concern in the project would be switching the fuelling from diesel to petrol I would have thought......?

Go for the Focus, you won't regret it ;)

I'm with Chris -You could spend thousands converting a Fabia but why not buy the Focus (or an Octavia VRs)? - it just makes sense.

The thing is i have only had the car 9months and done nearly 14000miles. how much would it be worth now? i would have to sell it to pay the finance off then get a loan to cover for the Focus +insurence+ what ever finance is left on the fabia.

Is there companys that would take my car for PX over a focus even tho there is finance still to be paid on it?

I dont know much about the rules an regs for selling cars, so i must look like a right n00b but thats why am here!

any feedback would be great!

I'd have to agree - Although I'm spending my bl*ming cash on doing up the Furby at the moment ;) - if you are after a petrol-powered car, you'd be better off starting with a Seat or go a 'size up' and pick up the Octy vRS perhaps. Alternatively spends lotsacash and convert it, it can be done but it will cost you an absolute fortune.

:iagree:

After seeing how much trouble Jason has had swapping simular engines PD100 to a PD130 using the same fuel, i'd imagin dropping a 1.8t in would be a nightmare...

Dam!

I think i will give up on the engine swap then.

I just had a look around taking ww_vrs's advice and found a seat cupra 1.8t 225 for 12000 and the insurance is 2459! so its cheaper and faster than the Focus, but just does not look as good.

Foget the FocusRS, the new Focus ST looks a bargain, 2.5l, 5 cylinder, turbo with 222bhp standard and 300bhp from a little breathing and remap work and all for

personallly i think the focus and seat look naff! i want to put a 1.8t in my 1.4 sometime in the future....i want to do it because i like the fabia isnt that the point? you want to keep the car but make it that bit more special and unique rather than buying a car thats already done and wont be as special to you at all....just a new focus rs or seat ibiza...

Hmm - true ;)

Who am I to argue as we have Jason's rather miraculous conversion :D

That said I think if you start with a petrol-based car & stick the 1.8T in it may be less expensive than starting from the vRS version, although I'm guessing it will still cost you loads.

Would be interesting to have some feedback from say JBS on a totally ballpark pricing figure for this, wouldnt like to ask Jason how much it cost, that chicken wire must have set him back a fortune :P (sorry couldnt resist ;))

In all fairness I am pretty amazed by some of the modification skills that go beyond a little air intake replacement, there have been some excellent tweaks done to the cars (all flavours thereof) :)

5k+ easy for a 1.8T conversion.

its funny it doesnt even cost 5k to put a 1.8t lump in a clio hehe

Wot about a Octy RS? (mk1)

can be got for a little over 12k brand new... modding potential just liek any other 1.8t car

Couldn't agree more. The project sounds technically insane, but so much of the fun in a Furby RS is the looks on other drivers faces when they see this liitle bag of fun do something outrageous. Just imagine the looks you'd get if it had the Octy RS engine in it

One of my alltime favourite, (motoring), moments was screaming past a dawdling Astra GTE once in a shagged 120L one Sunday afternoon years ago. I wasn't going at all fast, but he didn't expect it. Wife in the passenger seat, mother in law, (?), in the back, couldn't do a thing. I thought my gf of the time was going to rupture herself laughing at the look on their faces

Do it to a petrol car, leave on the 1.2 badges and head out on the highway!!Priceless :D:D:D Make sure it's a beige one with a fish on the back :D

Whilst on the subject, check out this link. http://www.darwinfish.com/

I've got 5 on order as Christmas presents

Including engine and labour?

5k you say? OOOOh i can feel a bank loan coming on!

Does it have to be a VRS engine? can anyone suggest anything different? its got to be petrol+turbo.

But if you want to go really mad why not take the Engine & transmission out of an Octy 4x4 and shoe horn it into a Furby, add A big turbo to give say 350 bhp & it would be the car Skoda should have built :thumbup:

Including engine and labour?

yup but there again he did fit it him self

iirc he also does 172 engine swaps into base clios for about 2.5k

I think the main difference is that if JBS did it, it would look like a OE install

Theoretically it wouldnt be difficult to do, as the ibiza mk4 already has the engine... and no offence to Jason, but i think JBS would know what they were doing :D

and no offence to Jason, but i think JBS would know what they were doing :D

And as far as I know, they don't have a speed boat or a passion for golf to distract them ;)

OR spend the 12k on a 2nd hand Elise or VX220 and you won't need to mod it.

except an elise will get left for dead by most stuff in a straight line

Well im very confused on what to do now. I test drove the fiesta ST today and it was very very slow for a 2.0 150bhp hot hatch. the Fabia would eat it alive! went to Lexus and found a IS200 sport an test driving it tomorrow. Thanks for all your help!!!
