Garmin Purchase Doesn't Work - and no response from Garmin

Featured Replies

I bought the City View 3D 2.0 upgrade for my PID (£14.99) from the Garmin/Navigon "NAVIGONFresh" app thing.

I would not load - saying there was insufficient memory.  But I have nothing loaded on my PID - no songs, pictures etc. and could not get it to load after hours of trying.

I phoned Navigon who could not help with the loading issue so I asked for a refund.  Woman said she could not access any of my details (even though I have a "My Navigon" account on their system) because "Garmin have only recently taken over Navigon and their systems are not aligned yet.  (Thought Garmin bought Navigon a long time back now…) so could not arrange the refund.

She gave me a 'case number' and told me to email Product Support at Garmin which I did - in my email I asked for a refund under the terms of the Distance Selling Regulations, within the 7 days blah blah blah.

That was 14 days ago and I've heard nothing from them since, despite follow-up emails.

Anyone with similar experiences?

Just a thought, do you need to have memory card in the pid?

The PID has very little internal storage I think it's only 4GB and last time I looked mine which has stock software/maps it only had 300mb ish left! So if the 3D maps are a large update it could be that there is no way to install them. I would guess the SD card can't be used to expand storage and is only for music....

I removed all maps other than UK (is I like our little island and no desire to venture off it)

this freed up a load of memory and allowed updates and upgrades

Garmin suggested removing all other maps, but if they'd made it clear on the website that this was required for the additional product to work, I'd not have bought it.

I do venture into Europe several times a year so deleting EU maps is not really an option for me.

I think they need to make clearer what might be required in terms of deleting features/maps or having to use an SD card for a product to work before you buy it.

you can delete the maps country by country, you don't have to delete all the EU maps at once

you can also add them back at any time as well, so no big issue

It's a bit mad though - It's like a car dealer saying "yes, sir I have sold you these car mats, however due to the limited power of your engine, in order for you to use them we will have to remove something else from your car - may we suggest your sun visors, or perhaps the steering wheel..."

Got my refund after quoting 'distance selling regs' at them.
