My poorly Polo....again !

Featured Replies

My Polo,

02 plate

1.2 petrol

91,600 miles

I've had a juddering when releasing the clutch in 1st gear and reverse only for quite a while now, i suspected a broken engine or gearbox mount. Haven't had the time or money to get it looked at.

It doesn't jump out of gear. In the last week or so it has developed a noise from the gearbox, like a squeek or chirping noise.

The noise is present when not in gear and ticking over, if i depress the clutch it dissapears.

the noise is also present in every gear when driving.

I have been told it may be the Input Shaft Bearing, if it is this could anyone tell me how much this will cost to fix ?

Any other suggestions would be most helpfull.

Thank you.

Could well be a release bearing so it's a gearbox off job when you might have to replace clutch too dependant on condition so a garage would probably be about £3-400
