Fabia Vrs starting problem help :(

Featured Replies

Please help :( I've recently brought a fabia vrs it was fine for a few days, now when I come to it in the mornings the heater light on the dash doesn't light up, when it's not lighting up it won't start. If I keep flicking the ignition on and off it will eventually come up and it will start! Any ideas? I've replaced glow plugs, fuel filters all genuine parts?

Try scanning it with vcds too see if there's any faults. Maybe relay for the glow plugs? And it should start ok without to much pre heat in warmish weather.

Don't think I've ever sat and waited for my glowplugs to warm up. its never needed it as it starts instantly always.

its amazing how well it starts in cold weather.

It's strange as if that heater plug light doesn't come on it won't start.. If it does it will.. But if you turn it over when the light hasn't came on it won't even attempt to start but soon as you get it to come on for as little as a split second it will start straight away?

Maybe it's something unrelated. Immobiliser? Maybe. Or something with the ignition barrel?

Weird how that effects the heater plug light though?

check the heater plug relay plug has been clipped in tight, its on inner wing side of battery and if battery is changed easily forget to reconnect

You don't need to wait with PD's and CRD's because the fuel atomisation is so good, however the glowplugs will still be working until the engine is warm enough, they're just on for longer when it's cold, this is because so much of the heat from compression is lost into the stone cold pistons and head initially.

The Heater Plug light can show up if you have a Injector loom error

best advise Scan the car with Vagcom and report back any codes

No, it doesn't come up... Like when it's running it doesn't come on... But the car won't start unless it comes on when the ignition is switched on, which half the time it doesn't come on?
