Rapidly losing faith with my car

I thought they changed the door seal to a modified one not cut a strip off the original one

I'm sure mine are modified as they don't look cut.

Mine has a single length of rubber, but where the drain is, it's not fixed. It just bridges the gap.

Replacing the lower seals is exactly what I was expecting, but no, all they've done is trimmed the existing door seal along the inside edge. They claimed this is what the memo from Skoda on the issue says to do, rather than replace the seals.

£16000 and cut seals not good mine needs doing i will kick up a stink if they cut them. I have put a matchstick under the rubber for now seems to work as the rubber is  not sealing the drain holes

I actually saw that bulletin from Skoda about this mod as I'm very friendly with my dealer and all the staff.

It states to cut the seals for drainage.

The seal appears to be in the form of an upside down L shape, which unfortunately leads to the drain slots to the door cavity being covered. Assume its this shape to keep it braced/pushed against the sill to form a seal with the door shut.

Would have thought they should/would only cut a small section out of the 'horizontal leg' to clear the drain but who knows, suppose it depend on how understanding the tech is on the workings of the seal  :wonder:

Had an opportunity to test out the 'fixed' heated rear window this evening. It is functioning, but is quite ineffective. In the full 8-9min cycle that it ran for until it auto switched off, it only half-cleared the rear window.

I guess the question is - do I need to go back and yell at the dealership again, or is the Rapid's heated rear window (when functioning) a bit weak?

Any and all feedback appreciated as always.

Cheers

Chris

Our rear window heater works as well as any other car we've had; front demist seems a little slower than the Fabia but otherwise more than happy.

Mine is very poor at clearing the rear screen as was my Octavia too [emoji19]

It's quite common for these and Octavia's.

Cheers for the feedback. Will see how it progresses (and how it does after I clean the rear window with my own products).

Also - had a call form Skoda UK. While they haven't really done anything to resolve or expedite this process, they were not impressed when I told them that Marlborough just cut the lower seals on the rear doors instead of replacing them. They are supposed to be calling me back again after consulting one of their in-house techs on the matter.

I don't recall any particular issue with the heated rear window in any of my past, or present cars.

Plenty of threads around at this time of year in the Octavia ,Fabia,Citigo and even on the UP forum.

My Rapid and my friends 3 year old A7 are the only misted up cars in our staff car park. All the rest are non VAG.

Me either. I've had two Octavias, a Fabia, and now the Citigo and the Superb.

Agree the rear is pretty good, but the climate control is unbelievably quick at de-misting the front.

My Fabia mists up during the day in winter time. Also had some very minor leakage through the seal of the near side rear door. Mainly going through puddles.
