Centre silencer removal

Featured Replies

Hi guys I'm looking at getting the centre silencer removed was wondering if anyone has noticed like a drone or anything in car either motorway of just normal driving and anybody know any good exhaust places in Doncaster or Sheffield don't want some cheap person welding it and sparking my ecu cheers for the help

I was thinking about this but didn't. my local tech said "its a reasonator box, rather than a silencer, and it will make it drone at constant high speed (motorway)" ....

I also then read about the turbo needing back pressure for the seals to work (read the engine thread that just been posted) and decided totally against...

yes , lots of people are happy with their middle box removal, and the sound testers at tracks laugh at my quiet car..... however, my opinion is "im leaving it alone..." lol....

Yes there is a slight drone on the Motorway. But it is mainly masked by the high wind / road noise!

All that matters is, the sound when giving it the beans is AWESOME!

With a turbo car you will find off boost the turbo keeps the volume down to nothing more than an oem sports exhaust.

As for backpressure and oil seals, its only the case on poor quality turbos.

My old car ran a K04 turbo, with no cat, no silencer, and a straight through backbox.

The turbo on it was running that way for 20k miles without using any oil, and the K04 on VXRs are known for being made of cheese.
