Fabia sdi polo tdi engine swap

Featured Replies

Hi guys new here my mate was selling me his 9n polo tdi for a couple hundred as the body is totally wrecked but mechanicals are perfect.

My car - 2002 fabia 1.9 sdi

His car - 2003 9n polo tdi pd130 engine

Could I do a straight swap of the engine or what needs to be done to turn my sdi into a tdi??

I have the full car so all parts available.

Thanks in advance

You basically need everything under the bonnet including the engine loom and the ECU, I think the exhaust might be different as well.

Use your eyes and change everything that's different.

What do you mean your mate WAS selling you the car, either he did or he didn't!

Oh ok I thought it may just of been a simple engine swap not wireing loom and ecu but that's not a problem tbh.

And was selling me it because I turned him down but now I'll just tell him I'll take it.

Is the engine mounts etc the same isn't it?

Does the sdi share anything with the tdi version? Or does everything need to be swapped?

Thanks for ur reply

Btw I meant like a 1.8t conversion everything is different so it needs to be all replaced like fuel pump ecu wireing loom speedo that kinda stuff.

Yes. Everything is basically different. The engine mounts will fit your bodyshell. Your fuel tank will be fine.

Just swap it all over, if the cars are side by side then it's easy.
