Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wondering if these will fit my better halfs 2012 FL Vrs TDi?

Item: Steel wheels with winter tyres (LK 5 x 112.00 x 57.00)Nankang Snow SV-2 205/55 R16 91VSkoda OCTAVIA 2.0 TDI 1Z 1968ccm 125 kW 06.2004-

I have used mytyres in the past and all has been ok. I think the spare in the boot is 205/55/r16

Thanks in advance

The Nankang SV-2 tyres don't get very good reviews for comfort or wet grip.  How about Nokian WR D3 at £63 or Nokian WR A3 at £62 from Oponeo?  I bought 4x the A3 tyre from Oponeo and the service was excellent.  Haven't fitted the tyres on yet, but the reviews are good, Nokian are Finnish specialists in winter tyres.  I found that in general the Oponeo prices are better than Mytyres.

yep, should be fine in terms of size/fit etc (oops beaten too it by mike above)

.. but as above, although even the nastiest chinese ditchfinder winters will outperform summer tyres on snow, they may unfortunately be crap in cold and wet weather which we have more often here than snow.

Read up on the magazine tyre tests to see what works well - they do very comprehensive tests in all conditions.  Cost of a branded/quality tyre is not much more than the cheapies IME.

EVO winter results:

1. conti winter contact

2. michelin aplin

3. dunlop sp sport winter

4. goodyear ultragrip 8

Also check camskill for pricing.

Used Continental WinterContact TS830 for a few years and they have been excellent. Used them in the highlands in winter a few times and they just kept us in control when others had got stuck and ended up in ditches.  Just got a new set of the 850's which I will be putting on in the next couple of weeks. Usually use Camskill although the 830's were a fantastic £61 each fitted a few years ago from local Kwikfit. They were more expensive for the 850's this time so got them from Camskill.

I've got kleber quadraxa on my 4 x 4 they are a fair tyre that is flattered by the haldex in snow. Good in the rain but dry grip not as good as the hankook icepts I had on our puma.

Steer clear of the budget rubbish. They are not that much cheaper than nokian or hankook etc.

Also, compare prices with your local tyre d centre. I have got to within a couple of quid of net prices once fitting is taken into account.

This was on the most recent set for our new mito. No worries about **** ups via the net :-)

Be careful what they are listed as, I've got a set from eBay that were listed as caddy center caps but turned out to be vw transporter and won't fit.

I will look them out and post the part number that DOESNT fit!

Cheers.
