Build week

Featured Replies

Hi all

Ordered a hatchback Elegance 2 weeks ago. Spoke to the salesman towards end of last week he said no build week yet - any idea when I can expect a build week allocated and how quickly delivery is/could be after this? Don't want to keep pestering the salesman lol.

Cheers.

Steve.

I ordered back in June, will be 6 months from order date to delivery.

Sorry to disappoint but you may not know for a while. The build dates are provisional until they get locked in, a week before.

I knew the wait could be a while but when I ordered I was told 12 weeks for hatchback 20 weeks for estate. I don't have a real rush for it to arrive just trying not to be impatient and as it's my first 'brand new' car I wasn't sure how often I should get updates from the dealer and how quick the process is at the various stages.

I ordered my vrs estate on the 22nd of may and took delivery on the 22nd of October. How many updates just depends on dealer and salesperson I got weekly updates from skoda uk and my dealer updated me every 2-3 weeks

Ordered my hatch 25th July and was told 8-10 weeks delivery, ie end Sept/early Oct. The reality is that it was built in week 43 and has currently only got to German port of exit (Emden) awaiting boat to UK port. My dealer reckons we'll have it next week.

Expect it to be about 4-6 weeks from when the dealer places the order on the factory before you get a build week allocated. They seem to be allocating them at the last minute at the moment.

I ordered my Elegance estate on the 13th Sept and due to the options he guestimated at a early/mid-January delivery. Dealer put the order through to Skoda on the Monday (start of week 38). I waited a couple of weeks for the confirmation and provisional build week to come through.

I heard nothing from the dealer after an email chase so sent a query to Skoda Customer Service. Next morning both dealer and Skoda contacted me (I'd asked the dealer for the codes for the extras to make sure the extended warranty was on as a factory ordered one, not a franchise one!).

Skoda were very helpful, explained the whole process of the just-in-time manufacturing. Confirmed the provisional build week was 49 (matched what dealer had told me too, so I know they haven't pulled a fast one) and that it would take about 25 hours to build it and 3-4 weeks from then to be ready for collection. He did also warn me that it would be in transit during Christmas hols so not to be surprised by delays, including the weather!

When the new spec was announced a few weeks ago I added ACC to the order and confirmed again with Skoda CS that it had happened and they also said it hadn't changed the provisional build week.

I've not had any updates since (from dealer or Skoda) and I'll probably not chase for one until week 47. The order isn't locked in until the week before it is built so if it is still on target at week 47 it probably unlikely to be delayed.

So I'm looking at around 16 weeks(ish) for order to delivery of an estate with lots of extras. It seems a long time and watching this forum doesn't help with my impatience, but it will be worth it in the end!

So to cut a long story short - contact Skoda CS (I used the web form and they rang me the following morning) - they will at least give you the Skoda order number. If they don't have the order, change your dealer!

8th Sept, Ordered: My first brand new car too, VERY excited. I was told to expect mid/ late January delivery. In my recent experience, pestering the dealer/ Skoda only serves to frustrate yourself.

3rd Oct: Got an unexpected email, the car will be built "in the next 1.5 months", no further changes to spec allowed, allow a week for transport/ prep (I'm 40 miles from the factory).

This (tentatively) will be an end of November delivery, 12 weeks from order to delivery, without the 3 week transit needed for a UK car via German docks, so 15 weeks UK equivalent for a VRS estate with lots of options.

I think the best advice I have received and still trying to heed is forget about it, it arrives when it arrives.

I paid the deposit on 18/10/2014  for a new Scout with a few factory options.  Got telephone message from dealer earlier this week suggesting build would take place late November......hope they meant November 2014!

Anyone else ordered a Scout with factory options in the last couple of weeks able to shed light on possible build date ?

Deposit on my Scout was paid 8th October and I have a build date of week 2, 2015. My company didn't want delivery till 2015 so dealer may not have placed order straight away...very excited already.

Ordered 1.4TSI Manual Estate on Aug 1. The car was built about two weeks ago (about 3 months order to build). Now the long wait for the boat...

Had a call from my dealer on Friday afternoon ... my build date has been bought forward a week (now 48). He said I should get it around Christmas, which would be nice :-)
