Help with a Bulb Please........

Featured Replies

I have spent the last Half hour looking through the Octavia Owners Manual and no where in the book can I find the section of which bulb to buy if one fails.

I am thinking of replacing my rear fog light bulbs with the LED equivalent but I cannot find the original type bulb information in the book.

Anyone know where I can find this Information please.

Thanks

The traditional bulbs usually have the bulb type (like P20, R20 etc) printed or stamped onto the metal holder.

If you can't find any information on this it is a "mechanical" solution.

Also, I think if you replace the bulb with an LED you may trigger fault code due to the different resistances.

You may need to recode or disable the bulb warning.

Thanks for that, yep the bulds will need coding out by putting a tick in the controller using a VCDS. I'm just trying to find the conversion number from OEM to LED's

Once I have the LED's fitted the rear fogs will become extra brake lights again by ticking a box in the controller. The function of the rear fogs remains the same if needed. ( Both have been enabled )

My facelift Yeti has H7 bulbs in the fogs and headlights, high & low beam. The DRL are PW24W, if it's the same is yours with it being the newer model?

Rear Fogs H7 ?

Top Man, your a star

Cheers

Auric,

Do you have LED back lights from the factory?

Yes

The bulb type is not P21W but H21W (BAY9s base, /OSRAM 64136/)!

I have checked mine as I'm thinking about the same mod.

You will need a bulb with a maximum diameter of 13 mm. Thicker won't fit according to my measurement.

The standard OSRAM bulb has 600 lumens so you'll need a LED replacement with equal or higher luminance. Won't be an easy job...

No

The bulb is a P21W.

Easy to find a LED replacement with 10 CREE chips.

The additional brake light trick will look ugly with the slow responsing brake lights and the instant on/off fogs with LEDs...
