17" spiders which tyres?

Featured Replies

I will be picking up my 17" spider alloys tomorrow after being refurbished for my fabia vrs.

I am just wanting some advice on which tyres to go for, the wheels will be going on between April and September throughout the year.

I'm unsure whether to go for 205/40/17 or 215/40/17

Has anybody got any recommendations please? Went to get my car tracked and they said that maxxis were good tyres just wanted to ask on here specifically due to the car.

Thanks

Jamie

215's will be ok if you are not lowered.

I currently run 215's but I am on coilovers and I do get a bit of rub on full lock. Going to be changing to 205's for now. I know I am not the only one.

It's eorher the 205's or you need to run higher than this....

I run 215s - prefer the bit of extra width.  I'm a fanboi of the Maxxis MA-Z1 tyre. :)

if your not silly low . id got for wide tyres. I hate "stretch" why have is. its pointless. makes your tyre look wrong (which it is). makes the tyre bend in unusual ways. woudlnt facy the beed staying kn at good if you hit a curb. alloy has no curbing protection from the tyre. tyre will wear funny. and I wknt get started on stupid rear camber.

but yeh 215. more rubber on road.

dun know wether to get rid of my TT comps for some spiders

what width are 17" spiders?

I at to run 195 40 17 to stop scrubbing on the inner arch but I am really low

I ran 205/40/17 tyres on mine and didn't have stretch.

that's the standard size on my mk4 Ibiza. no stretch

Uni royal Rainsport 3's. Hard to beat them Imo especially where bang for buck in concerned, very good in the wet obviously but the dry grip has impressed me total confidence in them.
