New Yeti owner - Unlocking/opening Rear Doors

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I've been lurking here for the past few weeks as I research cars, and am happy to announce that I am now a proud owner of a Yeti 90TSI Ambition. Picked it up earlier today and already highly amused by the baffled looks I get when I drive past.

Anyway, one thing is driving me nuts and doesn't seem answered by the manual clearly...people can't open the rear doors to enter the car. If I drive the car to pick up people, or approaching the vehicle after it's been parked, the rear and passenger door are all locked tight. Even if I press the unlock button on the key chain from 20+ metres away, the rear and passenger door will not open - it's always only the driver door. Is anyone able to advise on this?

I've been driving an '05 Lancer for the last 8 years, so all this technology is a steep learning curve. It's like the day I got my first smartphone!

Cheers.

You have to unlock twice to for all doors.... An anti-hijack safety feature.

One click for drivers door only, two clicks (in fairly quick sucession) to unlock all remaining doors (boot included).

Obviously if you're sat in the driving seat you can unlock the remaining doors by pressing the button located near the handbrake.

Ahh, awesome. Thanks for the prompt replies!

I could have sworn when I was driving, the central locking was off. The key icon was not lit.

If you find someone with VCDS then they can change it to single click unlocking of all doors if you prefer that.

I'd guess the dealers in Australia could also do it.

PS: Welcome to the forum...

At first I was like - "Whaaat? 90hnp?"

But then I was like "Ohhh. Australia - kW"

With some models you can change this setting yourself through the car settings.  It is (amongst) the first things I change on a new car (default is usually driver's door only, I prefer global unlocking).  I also enable drive-away locking.

If you have Maxidot you can change to one click opens all doors. This should change the rear doors being locked when you pick someone up as well. You will also find the boot door cannot be opened by someone outside unless a door has been opened or the unlock button beside the hand brake is pushed.

There are 3 settings on mine for unlocking with one single key button press;

*Drivers door only

*Vehicle side (drivers and drivers side rear door)

*All five doors

2 button presses overrides all these.
