changing window reg, can't get connector off door lock module

Featured Replies

I tried for half an hour the other day but all I managed to do was break the tab a little bit,any suggestions how I could release the connector?

Yeah it's a bit of a fiddle but I'm pretty sure I inserted a small flat head screwdriver to release the lock then in just pulled apart. I remember I ended up looking at one of the connectors that was identical in the engine bay so I had an idea of which way the screwdriver needed to be inserted.

It was a pain in the arse until I knew exactly which way the locking tab needed to be pushed.

I couldnt get it to move at all,i ended up hacking the door skin apart with sidecutters just to get it out of the way!

Cut the wires this side of the metal skin, reconnect with connectors.

I have been thinking of that but i haven't committed,i may do it

It's bloody awkward to do, but I found that actually pushing the connector on harder while pulling on the locking tab with a fingernail allowed the tension to release from the locking tab, then it came off like a cork out of a bottle.

I have damaged that tag a bit but i will improvise and use that technique, cheers

The correct way to release those connectors is to pull the tab straight back towards the wires, not sideways. They come off very easily once you know how to do it.

The door lock connectors are an absolute bugger to get at, it's this access problem that makes them difficult to remove rather than any difference in construction from the rest of the connectors on the car.

It is a bit of a pig,i would love to do it the proper way but i could have cut and connected the whole thing in less time than i wasted trying to get it off and damaging it lol
