VRS Tsi manual engine noise

Featured Replies

Hi I've had my VRS for 2 years since new. For about 6 months now I've been experiencing an engine noise when lifting off the throttle in all gears.

The noise is like a thud/squeak, you can feel the car lurch when it does it and I can sometimes feel the gear stick move when it makes the sound.

Unless I really take my time the gear changes can be very clunky and notchy.

I've had this into the dealer about 3 months ago and they "found nothing wrong" but since the weather as got really cold recently I've noticed it doing it a lot more.

I'm thinking engine mounts but apparently these were checked when it went to the dealer.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Anyone?

Hi thompson8, had a quick search through the forum, seems others have had problems with upper gearbox mount on the TDI.

Searched engine mount failure

Hth

Looks are deceiving ...best check mounts by rocking it under load whilst stationary and have someone check.easy to miss perished mounts on a inspection. But to be honest it also sounds like dual mass could be failing imho

Hi thanks for the replies. Would the DMF get bet 'better' as the car gets warm as it definitely gets better when the car has been on a good 30 min run. Same with the engine mounts is it possible that the bushes are expanding when the engine bay gets hotter?

If it was a DMF how am I going to persuade the dealer to replace this?!

It's really annoying though as I usually only do 15 min journeys so the car barely heats up.

Thanks.
