VAG returns ABS sensors errors G251 & G200

Featured Replies

my and garage's VAG returns ABS sensors errors G251 & G200, and garage wants to replace both sensors FIRST, before attempting to replace entire ABS unit.

replacing ABS unit was recommended to me by 3rd party dealership, which sold me the car with this known faults.

so i sourced ABS unit myself from a breaker and now it seems i may be waste of my time and money.

what do you think? is garage right in their judgement?

or at least, how likely are they to be right, if it cannot be known at this stage right now?

(they quoted me 2h labour for sensors alone and another 2h for ABS module. adding cost of (aftermarket) sensors and genuine (used) ABS module, it will cost me as much as i paid for car alone!)

can anyone do it for me this week in London? if so, what's your quote please?

thanks!

Is a garage/dealer allowed to sell a un-road worthy car?  I say unroad-worthy, as I assume it won't pass an MOT?

good point! it was listen on eBay and i was told it would not pass MOT but was reassured and drives fine. that small dealership is also garage and they do MOTs there.

(but because they 'forgot' to disclose me 1 break has pads won to estimated 90% and sticky calliper, i am not going back to them, unless to cause something...)

also, other garage i had it diagnosed this Saturday where it failed MOT, didn't keep the car in, so i assume flawed ABS is not serious enough.

am i wrong?
